| Arriving at Troll Bridge at 9:30 pm, we parked just beyond the East end of the bridge. The first thing we noticed was the absolute stillness of the area. No sounds of birds, insects or nearby animals could be heard here. As we approached the bridge on foot we were struck by the odor of something which had been dead for a long time. After crossing to the midpoint of the bridge the odor was gone. Upon returning to the East end of the bridge the odor was still extremely noticeable. Kenny, Curtis, Thomas and Donna Kaye walked the length of the bridge taking pictures. After 10 pictures the batteries in one of the digital cameras were dead. The video camera simply shut itself off with a dead battery after 10 minutes. While Donna Kaye returned to the truck for fresh batteries the rest of the investigators explored the bridge. Upon returning to the bridge Donna Kaye noticed the odor seemed a bit stronger than before. Kenny heard what sounded like low growling in the wooded area close by followed by moans. He heard these same sounds 3 - 4 times during the investigation. Curtis, Kenny and Thomas decided to explore beneath the bridge in an effort to find what was giving off that horrible stench. Donna Kaye returned to the truck where Kathryn and Angie were waiting. While standing outside the truck Donna Kaye noticed a light approximately 2 feet from the rear of the vehicle. Thinking that it was one of the men returning for some reason or other she spoke before realizing that she could see all 3 of the others still on the bridge. After comparing notes following the investigation it was discovered that Kenny had seen a light in the same area and at about the same time as the one that Donna Kaye had seen. While exploring beneath the bridge itself our 3 intrepid investigators found an area of grass that appeared to have been flattened by something very large either lying on it or walking through it. The odor of death was very strong in this area. They also found what appeared to be "drag marks" in the grass leading away from the area. Common sense (and an extensive knowledge of horror movies where people follow paths to their deaths) prevailed and they returned to the bridge. We all want to return to Troll Bridge next year. |
